► Infants saw schematic action-reaction sequences that reversed after habituation. ► Infants perceived reaction causality by 6 months, the same age as launch causality. ► This reaction perception appeared regardless of whether agents moved like animals. ► Reaction perception did not correlate with infants' goal-based perception/action either. ► Causal perception might be undifferentiated, not domain-specific, early in infancy.
