Neural correlates of source memory retrieval in young, middle-aged and elderly adults

► Age effects on the neural correlates of retrieval attempt and success were examined. ► Both retrieval processes showed neural activity changes across age groups. ► These age differences predominated at the frontal electrode sites. ► The right frontal effect correlated with performance only in young adults.
