Target predictability, sustained attention, and response inhibition

► We compared the SART, fixed and random, with equivalent low-Go tasks. ► Regardless of format, the SART had higher levels of errors of commission. ► There was a different pattern of cerebral activation in the SARTs than low-Go tasks. ► There were increased self-reports of task-related thoughts in the SARTs. ► The results suggest the SART measures response inhibition and strategy.
