An analysis of the determinants of the feeling of knowing

► We examined the feeling of knowing (FOK) in an episodic memory task. ► We hypothesized that FOK is an inferential process influenced by partial target access. ► We found that accuracy of certain attributes associated with the target influenced FOKs. ► Accurately remembered semantic attributes resulted in higher FOK judgments.
