Mirror-touch synaesthesia changes representations of self-identity

► We investigate self-recognition in a group of mirror-touch synaesthetes. ► Viewing touch on another's face induced a significant change in self-recognition. ► Stored facial representations were updated to incorporate the other's features. ► The observation of touch changes the way synesthetes represent their own bodies.
