Cortical control of inhibition of return: Evidence from patients with inferior parietal damage and visual neglect

► Inhibition of return (IOR) is an attentional function important to explore novelty. ► Patients with left visual neglect performed manual and saccadic detection tasks. ► There was a dissociation between manual and saccadic IOR. ► Saccadic IOR was normal, manual IOR reverted to facilitation for right-sided targets. ► Parietal damage or disconnection can result in impaired manual IOR.
