▶ Metaphors elicited activation in bilateral inferior frontal and temporal gyri. ▶ Novel sentences elicited activation in right inferior frontal gyrus. ▶ Results suggest that all metaphors, even familiar ones engaged the right hemisphere. ▶ Right hemisphere recruitment is most influenced by semantic integration demands.
