Telling one face from another: Electrocortical correlates of facial characteristics among individual female faces

► We examined the ERP responses in relation to variations in facial characteristics. ► N170 was related to eyes and facial layout, but not with mouth and nose region. ► The left and the right N170 were sensitive to different facial characteristics. ► In contrast, the P100 and N250 were largely not affected by facial characteristics.
