Excess worker turnover and fixed-term contracts: Causal evidence in a two-tier system

►We study the employment protection gap between contracts in two-tier labor markets. ►We explore a quasi-experiment to establish causality with labor market flows. ►Higher protection of permanent jobs causes a higher use of fixed-term contracts. ►It also causes higher excess worker turnover among fixed-term contracts.
