Skeleton of weighted social network

► A w-skeleton structure is proposed for weighted social networks. ► Percolation studies show that strong ties can support the skeleton of networks. ► The average centralities of vertices in w-skeleton increase as w increases. ► As skeleton index w increases, w-skeleton tends to be self-similar and fractal. ► The ties in the high w-skeleton play important roles in information diffusion.
