Novel graphical representation of genome sequence and its applications in similarity analysis

► We transform genome sequence into sparse matrix in order-preserving manner (OPT). ► Based on singular value decomposition (SVD) of matrix, novel 16-D vectors were obtained. ► We analyzed the similarities among the multiple sequences from 20 eutherian species. ► Evolutionary relationships were investigated. ► The comparison results show that our approach (OPT-SVD) is valid and practicable.
