The scaling behavior of hand motions reveals self-organization during an executive function task

► We examine the scaling behavior of hand motions during card sorting. ► Participants were either given a rule to follow or had to induce the rule. ► We compute the Hurst exponent for the motion time series with a windowing strategy. ► The induction condition showed a rise-and-fall pattern in their Hurst exponents. ► Results suggest that rule induction arises from interaction-dominant dynamics.
