Emergence of scaling and assortative mixing through altruism

► We propose a simple new modification to the standard preferential attachment mechanism. ► New links are created by altruistic attachment mechanism. ► Avoid systematic disassortative bias of BA networks while maintaining the same degree distribution. ► We find that such altruistic networks are structural more robust.
