Complexity-entropy causality plane: A useful approach for distinguishing songs

► An information theory approach was employed to obtain a complexity hierarchy for songs. ► The results are very promising to discriminate songs. ► The method is simple, robust and has a fast numerical implementation. ► More than ten thousand songs distributed into ten music genres were analyzed.
