LA-ICP-MS analysis of quartzite from the Upper Gunnison Basin, Colorado

► We analyzed 402 samples of UGB quartzite using LA-ICP-MS to discriminate sources. ► We ultimately aim to match quartzite tools and debitage to their geologic sources. ► The study assemblage represents the compositional variability in UGB quartzite. ► Results show spatial and geochronological trends in quartzite elemental composition. ► A new protocol must be followed to source human-modified quartzite, versus obsidian.
