Screening and identification of the antibacterial bioactive compounds from Lonicera japonica Thunb. leaves

► The L. japonica leaves were subjected to screen the antibacterial compounds. ► The most active fraction was attributed to J3B2. ► Five bacteriostatic constituents were isolated. ► Secoxyloganin was isolated for the first time from leaves. ► Dicaffeoyl quinic acid exhibited the highest activity.
