Fast method for multielemental analysis of plants and discrimination according to the anatomical part by total reflection X-ray fluorescence spectrometry

► We propose a fast and simple method for the multielemental analysis of plants. ► Ultrasound-assisted extraction prior to TXRF is applied. ► P, K, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn and Pb have been determined in CRMs and in 19 real plant samples. ► Discrimination on the basis of the anatomical part of plants (flower, leaves, fruits) is feasible.
