Spectrophotometric determination of iodate in iodised salt by flow injection analysis

► Iodate in iodised table salt is reacted with acidic hydroxylamine producing NO2. ► Reaction is performed using flow analysis, and NO2- is detected with Griess reagent. ► Photometric detection is utilized and a detection limit of 0.02 mg L-1 is achieved. ► The method is highly selective for iodate. ► A sample throughput of 24 per hour is achieved.
