Anti-oestrogenic diarylheptanoids from Aframomum melegueta with in silico oestrogen receptor alpha binding conformation similar to enterodiol and enterolactone

► Phytochemical investigation of Aframomum melegueta was carried out. ► Five diarylheptanoids and five hydroxyphenylalkanones were identified. ► ERα agonist/antagonist effects of the isolated compounds were investigated. ► Molecular docking of the active compounds was carried out.
