Rapid analysis of cyclamate in foods and beverages by gas chromatography-electron capture detector (GC-ECD)

► Sodium cyclamate was converted to N,N-dichloridecyclohexylamine. ► Sodium hypochlorite appeared to be a good reagent for the pre-column derivatization. ► Acid environment is critical for the derivatization and the derivatization time was 5 min. ► The separation time per run was 6 min. ► This method is simple, fast and sensitive.
