Purification and characterisation of aquamarine blue pigment from the shells of abalone (Haliotis discus hannai Ino)

►This is the first time using precipitation adsorption method in shell pigments extraction. ► An aquamarine blue pigment was purified. ► The ABP was identified as polyenic compounds by NMR and IR. ► The aquamarine blue pigment was relatively stable.
