Effects of low molecular weight chitosans on aristolochic acid-induced renal lesions in mice

► LMWC were obtained by treating crab shell chitosans with bamboo chitosansase. ► LMWC effectively reverted aristolochic acid-induced renal lesions in C3H/He mice. ► LMWC with MW ∼ 29 KDa have potential of functional ingredients for renal protection.
