Investigation of the morphology and electrical characteristics of hybrid blends based on poly(3-hexylthiophene) and colloidal CuInS2 nanocrystals of different shapes

► Well-defined CuInS2 nanocrystals are investigated in hybrid solar cells with P3HT. ► The impact of the particle shape and different ligands on solar cells is studied. ► Hexanethiol ligands appear suitable for a good morphology and rectification ratio. ► The devices appear to be limited by the alignment of energy levels. ► The findings constitute important guidelines for future research.
