Effect of the atmosphere on chemical composition and electrochemical properties of solid electrolyte interface on electrodeposited Li metal

► The Li deposited in dry air was revealed to have longer cycle life than that deposited in Ar. ► From the characterization of SEIs, the SEI formed on Li in Ar consists of Li2CO3 and hydrocarbons, while that formed in dry air does Li2CO3, hydrocarbons and Li3N. ► The Li metal anode having SEI consisting of Li3N shows improved cycle life even in the electrolyte containing ionic liquids.
