Codeposited PtSb/C catalysts for direct formic acid fuel cells

► Codeposited PtSb on carbon black catalysts are very active for formic acid oxidation in a DFAFC. ► Optimum performance was obtained with a 0.29 mol fraction of Sb, which produced PtSb alloy particles with a mean diameter of 1.8 nm. ► The presence of alloyed Sb greatly suppressed both CO adsorption and H adsorption/desorption.
