Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes with a fluoroquinolone antibiotic: Spectroscopic and X-ray absorption characterization

► Copper and zinc flumequine complexes were synthesized and fully characterized. ► EPR combined with XAS studies underlines a tetragonal distorted octahedral geometry for the two complexes. ► A salicylate coordination mode is underlined in the two cases.
