► The Sn atom is five-coordinate. ► Dithiocarbamate (dtc) ligand is coordinated in anisobidentate manner. ► Crystal structures show C-H⋯X (X = Cl, S, π), π⋯π, S⋯π, and S⋯Sn contacts. ► (Ph2SnCl)dtc complexes have fluorescent and lability properties. ► (Ph2SnCl)dtc complexes are potential sensors for to detect O-donor anions.
