Natural therapeutic agents for neurodegenerative diseases from a traditional herbal medicine Pongamia pinnata (L.) Pierre

To screen effective natural therapeutic agents for neurodegenerative diseases, 30 effective constituents, including one new chlorinated flavonoid, were identified from dichloride extract of Pongamia pinnata (L.) Pierre. The chalcones (24 and 25) and furanoflavonoid (2) were selected as potential candidate therapeutic agents for neurodegenerative diseases.
