A highly water soluble benzimidazole derivative useful for the treatment of fasciolosis

A novel phosphonooxymethyl prodrug with fasciolicidal activity has been synthesized. The prodrug showed a 50,000 fold increase in aqueous solubility in comparison to its precursor compound. The prodrug was evaluated in vitro and in vivo against Fasciola hepatica, demonstrating high fasciolicidal activity in vivo.88
