Calcium metal to synthesize amorphous or cryptocrystalline calcium phosphates

► Metallic calcium used in synthesizing cryptocrystalline or amorphous calcium phosphate powders. ► Use of metallic Ca eliminated the need to raise the pH of CaP synthesis solutions by NaOH, KOH or NH4OH. ► Metallic Ca performed well in solutions mimicking the blood plasma composition at RT. ► The use of metallic Ca eliminates the foreign ions, such as nitrate, ammonium or acetate in solutions.
