Antibacterial activity of SiO2/hydroxypropyl cellulose hybrid materials containing silver nanoparticles

► Synthesis of SiO2/HPC hybrid materials by sol-gel method is presented. ► The hybrids were doped with different amounts of silver. ► The obtained hybrids were investigated by FT-IR, SEM, EDS and BET analysis. ► Antibacterial behavior of the hybrid materials depends on the silver concentration.
