Preparation of grafted microspheres CPVA-g-PSSS and studies on their drug-carrying and colon-specific drug delivery properties

► A metronidazole colon-specific drug delivery was constituted using grafted polymeric microspheres. ► Grafted polymeric microspheres CPVA-g-PSSS were prepared via surface-initiated graft-polymerization. ► The release of the drug-carrying microspheres is highly pH-sensitive. ► The drug-carrying microspheres display an excellent colon-specific drug delivery behavior.
