Mg ion implantation on SLA-treated titanium surface and its effects on the behavior of mesenchymal stem cell

► Mg ion was coated onto surface of SLA treated titanium via vacuum arc source ion implantation method. ► The morphological characteristics did not change after Mg ion implantation. ► Mg ion implanted SLA Ti is highly cytocompatible. ► Initial cell adhesion of MSCs is improved by Mg ion implantation. ► Mg ion implantation improved the differentiation of MSCs into osteoblast.
