► The mechanical behavior of Ti-Fe-Sn and Ti-Nb-Zr-Ta alloys is investigated. ► These materials can be considered as novel β-phase alloys. ► Both alloys exhibit better wear resistance than commercial Ti-6Al-4V. ► None of these alloys show potential breakdown within the explored potential window. ► These non-toxic materials are well suited for a variety of biomedical purposes.
