Application of petrography for determining the quality of concrete cured in tropical environment

This paper presents the results of a study on the application of petrographic and chemical techniques for determining the quality of concrete cured in tropical environment. Concretes with water-to-cement ratios (w/c) of 0.30 to 0.70 with an increment of 0.10 were made and cured at 35 and 20 °C, and exposed to different durations of moist curing. The results suggest that most of the petrographic and chemical methods can be used for estimation of w/c and cement content for hardened concrete cured in tropical environment with acceptable accuracy.
