Electrical conductivity of silicate glasses with tetravalent cations substituting Si

► Silicate glasses with different M4 + ions were analyzed by impedance spectroscopy. ► MO2 oxides affects the Na+ mobility and changes the activation energy. ► The ZrO2 increases the conductivity while the CeO2 increases the glass resistance. ► Anderson-Stuart model was applied to estimate the activation energies. ► The experimental and the estimated values of the activation energy agree well.
