Phase controlled synthesis and optical properties of ZnS thin films by pulsed laser deposition

- ZnS thin films have been prepared on Au-coated and uncoated sapphire substrates by PLD technique.
- ZnS thin film deposited on uncoated sapphire substrate has zinc-blende or mixture of zinc-blende and wurtzite structure.
- ZnS thin film deposited on Au-coated sapphire substrate has wurtzite structure.
- Room-temperature PL spectra show two emission bands at ∼405 nm and ∼520 nm, respectively.
