⺠The mid-infrared chalcogenide fiber Raman laser is theoretically analyzed based on the nonlinear coupled equations, which shows that the Raman laser pumped at 2 μm can operate at high slope efficiency. ⺠The structure parameters of mid-infrared chalcogenide fiber Raman laser are optimized numerically, which can be used for making high performance practical Raman laser. ⺠The heat equations of chalcogenide fiber Raman lasers are constructed. Based on the heat equations, the temperature distributions along the chalcogenide fiber and the maximum temperature versus launched pump power are numerically calculated. The obtained results can be used for understanding the thermal dissipation mechanism of chalcogenide fiber Raman laser and designing the cooling configuration at high power operation.
