Nanoindentation and XRD investigations of single crystalline Ni-Ge brazed nickel-base superalloys PWA 1483 and René N5

▶ Single crystal nickel-base superalloys were diffusion brazed with Ge containing brazing alloys. ▶ Microstructure within the joint consists of a γ matrix and L12-precipitates. ▶ Hardness of γ′-precipitates/γ-matrix is reduced/similar in the joint compared to base material. ▶ In PWA 1483 the lattice misfit is negative in the joint as well as in the base material. ▶ In René N5 the lattice misfit is negative in the base material, but positive in the joint area.
