► The ultrastructure of the spermatozoa of Cicadella viridis (Linnaeus) is described and illustrated in detail. ► The conical acrosome fill with an electron-dense tubular substructure and form a subacrosomal space. ► The linear nucleus is filled with homogeneously condensed chromatin and parallel to the centriolar adjunct. ► The flagellum is formed by a 9 + 9 + 2 axoneme, two symmetrical mitochondrial derivatives and two small and slightly elliptical accessory bodies.
