Improvement in the corrosion resistance of TiB2/A356 composite by molten-salt electrodeposition and anodization

► A treatment combining molten-salt electrodeposition and anodization is presented. ► Molten-salt electrodeposition was adopted to develop a continuous coating on the composite surface. ► The surface morphology of the Al coating is closely related to the current density. ► Anodization was designed to convert the Al film to an Al oxide film for further corrosion protection. ► TiB2/A356 composite after the combination treatment exhibits enhanced corrosion resistance.
