WC nano-particle surface injection via laser shock peening onto 5A06 aluminum alloy

► We integrate WC nano-particles onto the Al alloy surface via laser shock peening. ► The surface hardness increases 21% compared to its original state. ► The surface residual stress changes from tensile to deep compressive stress state. ► The weight loss in friction-wear test decreases 80% compared to its initial state.
