Mg-Zr alloy behavior in basic solutions and immobilization in Portland cement and Na-geopolymer with sodium fluoride inhibitor

► Comparison of corrosion current density of Mg-Zr in activating solution of geopolymer and in OPC solution. ► Efficiency of NaF corrosion inhibitor is evidenced at long term. ► Mg-Zr alloy encapsulation in OPC and geopolymer were investigated with hydrogen evolution. ► Geopolymer Al:Na:Si:H2O is an attractive binder for Mg-Zr encapsulation in term of corrosion performance.
