Effect of a magnetron sputtered (Al2O3-Y2O3)/(Pt-Au) laminated coating on hot corrosion resistance of 8Nb-TiAl alloy

► (Al2O3-Y2O3)/(Pt-Au) laminated coatings were successfully prepared on TiAl. ► The thin laminated coatings (2 μm) provide excellent hot corrosion resistance. ► The multi-sealed (Pt-Au) layers can suppress the inward diffusion of oxygen. ► The laminated coatings exhibit excellent thermal shock resistance.
