High adhesion of diamond-like carbon thin film to an aluminum alloy achieved by substrate sputtering and redeposition method

► Substrate sputtering and redeposition (SSRD) method was proposed. ► Al/C mixed layer was formed at the interface. ► Film delamination at the interface was inhibited. ► Much longer antiwear lifetime was achieved.
