Development of particle-reinforced nanostructured iron-based composite alloys for thermal spraying

► Main goal: Development of new Fe-based, wear-resistant materials. ► Strategy: Particle reinforcement with CrB2 by means of high-energy milling (HEM). ► Wear-resistant coatings are produced by thermal spraying (HVOF, APS). ► Combination of nanocrystalline precipitations and microscaled reinforcement particles. ► Result: Excellent resistance against abrasive wear.
