Preparation and characterization of plasma sprayed Ni3Al-hBN composite coating

► Ni3Al-hBN powders are successfully manufactured by spray drying. ► With an increase of hBN, hardness and bond strength of coating decrease. ► With an increase of hBN, friction coefficient and its fluctuation decrease. ► When hBN < 10%, lubricating dominates, when  > 10%, bond weakening controls.
