A high signal-to-noise ratio toroidal electron spectrometer for the SEM

► Relative energy resolution is 0.38% for an angular spread of ±8°. ► Presence of shot noise on SE spectral signals is relatively small, less than 4 mV. ► A shift in SE spectrum of 32.2 μV can be monitored by calculating the expectation function value for SE spectral signals.
