Organotellurium and organoselenium compounds attenuate Mn-induced toxicity in Caenorhabditis elegans by preventing oxidative stress

► Ebselen and DPTVP showed antioxidant efficacy in Caenorhabditis elegans. ► Manganese led to increased protein oxidation and reduction in life span of worms after chronic exposure. ► Ebselen and DPTVP increased life span in Mn-exposed worms. ► DPTVP protected against Mn-induced toxicity by reducing protein oxidation. ► DPTVP increased the translocation of the transcription factor DAF-16 into the nucleus.
