Hydrogen sulfide promotes calcium signals and migration in tumor-derived endothelial cells

► We study the effects of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) on human breast carcinoma-derived endothelial cells (B-TECs). ► H2S donors trigger calcium entry and B-TEC migration. ► No pro-migratory effect is detected in normal microvascular ECs. ► Migration and calcium signals induced by VEGF in B-TECs are drastically reduced when endogenous H2S release is prevented. ► We conclude that H2S could be involved in proangiogenic signaling of tumor derived- but not of normal human ECs.
